Moment of Indiana History The Moment of Indiana History radio series is a production of the Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations (IPBS). The series is co-produced on behalf of IPBS by WFIU, Bloomington and WBAA, West Lafayette. Announcer & Co-Producer: Dan Skinner From 1992 to 2006, Dan Skinner was the General Manager of WBAA AM & FM at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Although he left Indiana to become the President of Texas Public Radio in San Antonio, Dan continues to serve as announcer for the series. Dan's broadcast career started in 1974 as an announcer, and eventually music director, for KJRG and KOEZ in Newton, Kansas. He also worked as an announcer for KLWN in Lawrence, Kansas. In 1980, Dan moved from commercial radio to public radio when he joined the staff of KHCC in Hutchinson, Kansas, as operations manager and later became program director. From 1987 to 1992, he served as program director and manager of internal operations at WBST in Muncie, Indiana. Over the years, Dan's voice has been featured on numerous projects through his work as a freelance announcer. Co-Producer: Christina Kuzmych Christina joined public radio in 1984, serving as station manager at WFIU since 1991. Previously, she held the positions of Program Director and Music Director. Her educational background includes a bachelor degree in Music Piano Performance in 1976, a master's degree in Music in Composition in 1977, and a doctorate in Composition with a minor in Musicology and corollary area in Arts Administration in 1991. She earned all degrees at Indiana University, Bloomington. Christina was born in Perth, Australia, and she attended K-12 in Denver, Colorado. She is bilingual (Ukrainian), loves animals and has too many interests to list! Writer: Yaël Ksander Yaël Ksander hosts musical evenings and weekend mornings on WFIU, and produces Earthnote , Radio Public , and Speak Your Mind . She also delights in her role as Don Glass' side-kick on A Moment of Science . Yaël came to Bloomington's public radio station in August 2000 after volunteering for two years at its community radio station WFHB, where she hosted a weekly rock-and-roll program. Yaël moved to Bloomington in 1998 to study painting at IU, and earned an MFA in June 2000. Previous educational forays have included graduate studies up to the dissertation stage in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century art at Columbia University, and an undergraduate career at the University of Virginia, where she studied modern comparative literature and studio art. Yaël was raised in Washington, D.C. Writer: Adam McCord Adam McCord is currently Associate Instructor of Saxophone at Indiana University where he is pursuing the Doctor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance, studying with Otis Murphy. He recently received the Master's of Music degree in Saxophone Performance, earning the prestigious Performer's Certificate. Adam received the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Adam is a Music Assistant at WFIU Radio, where his responsibilities include writing scripts for the nationally syndicated early music program, Harmonia, and co-producing a nationally aired documentary on IU Distinguished Professor and Beaux Arts Trio founder Menahem Pressler. |
